Naandi Water, one of India's largest social enterprises, launched a targeted crowdfunding campaign aimed at addressing the urgent need for safe drinking water and promoting WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) awareness. The initiative focused on 2,584 students across nine government schools in Vatika, Rajasthan, where highly contaminated drinking water posed a significant risk to health. The campaign's goal was to raise Rs. 9,00,000 within 45 days to ensure these schools could reopen with the necessary resources, providing access to clean water and promoting essential hygiene practices.
To create an impactful communication strategy that would mobilize funds quickly, ensuring students could return to school with safe water access.
To achieve this, a multifaceted strategy was deployed:
Storytelling: We developed compelling videos with the support of the schools and crafted a narrative for the crowdfunding page. This narrative highlighted the urgency of the situation and resonated with potential donors, making the campaign’s purpose clear and emotionally engaging.
Planning: A detailed communications calendar was designed for the 45-day campaign. This calendar strategically promoted the campaign at different intervals, aligning with key fundraising milestones. A Multi-Channel Engagement strategy was employed, leveraging social media, WhatsApp, emails, and other platforms to maximise outreach.
Community Engagement: The campaign encouraged everyone involved to share the fundraiser within their personal networks. This approach significantly expanded the reach of the campaign, tapping into a wider audience through word-of-mouth and personal endorsements.
Regular Updates: Throughout the campaign, audiences were kept informed of its progress. These regular updates maintained engagement and motivated additional participation, especially from those who had already contributed.
Post-Campaign Follow-Up: Upon completion of the campaign, thank-you messages were sent to all donors. These messages expressed gratitude for their contributions and reinforced the positive impact they had made, fostering a sense of community and ongoing support for Naandi Water’s mission.

The crowdfunding campaign for the nine schools in Vatika, Rajasthan, was a success, thanks to a well-executed communication strategy that combined purposeful storytelling, strategic planning, and active community engagement. By utilising a multi-channel approach and maintaining transparency throughout the process, Naandi Water not only achieved its fundraising goal but also strengthened its relationship with its supporters.
